"Dark, dense and concentrated. A rich, powerful wine that packs in layers of complex flavors, yet maintains a sense of grace and finesse. Core flavors are built around ripe, lively plum, currant, herb and smoky-toasty oak, but at the end what impresses you most is the elegance and polish. Best from 2006 through 2014. 2,550 cases made. 94 points" Wine Spectator
"Aging nicely, mature yet structured, with dried currant, mineral, sage and dusty cedary oak. Keeps its focus on the core earth and currant flavors. Still deep and intense, with persistent flavors. Not up to its usual standards. Tasted twice.--'97 California Cabernet retrospective. Drink now. 2,000 cases made. 91 points" Wine Spectator
Our 2002 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is an opulent wine of great depth and concentration. It displays a dark garnet color and aromas of black plum, cassis liqueur, rose petals, nutmeg and sandalwood. On the palate, it offers a mouth-filling texture and a wonderful progression of flavors from berry fruit to tobacco to dark chocolate, culminating in an extraordinarily long finish reminiscent of a dark chocolate truffle filled with berry liqueur. Properly cellared, this wine should provide drinking pleasure through 2028.
"Tight, earthy and unusually tannic for this wine, with fresh earth, mineral and dried currant fruit shaded by a dill-coconut flavor. Drink now through 2012. 70,000 cases made. 86 points" Wine Spectator
The Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is more limited in availability than the Alexander Valley, but there are now close to 33,000 cases being produced. The 2001 (31,430 cases of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot) offers a big, smoky, herb, black currant, tobacco, spice box, and barbecue spice-scented bouquet, and broad, medium to full-bodied, concentrated, sweet, jammy flavors with plenty of sexy, toasty American oak in the background. It is a hedonistic fleshpot of a wine to drink now and over the next 10-12 years. Score:92. Robert Parker, February 05, 2005
"Stale and leathery. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 24,128 cases made. 76 points" Wine Spectator
"Firm and tightly wound, with a band of cedar, leather and dried currant. It shortens up a bit on the finish, but is complex and appealing if a bit understated. Drink now through 2009. 1,958 cases made. 86 points" Wine Spectator
It has dark berry and cassis flavors with some soft tannins. A good value balanced effort.
Enjoy this full-bodied Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon with rich mouthfeel, moderate tannins and deep color accentuating the taste of black currant, plum, blueberry and spicy oak.
Luxurious, rich and concentrated with aromas of cherry, currant and blueberry these are just the start of this 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon.
