"In 1999, warm summer days helped the Staglin Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon to achieve full ripeness, while maintaining a generous level of acidity in the grapes. The result is a wine with power and intensity, but with a balance and freshness that only Mother Nature can provide. Aromas of ripe blueberries and blackberries marry well with earthy notes of tobacco leaves and peat. The color is a deep, dark red, almost opaque. On the palate, the ripe fruit character follows through, then yields to flavors of cedar and spice. The wine was aged for a full 26 months, in order to soften and round out the full tannins. It was then bottled without fining or filtration, so as not to diminish the wine's bold but alluring character." Winemaker
A rich bold cabernet that comes loaded with blackberry, plum, and chocolate flavors.
A perennial favorite on restaurant wine lists, ARTEMIS is generous in flavor and velvety in texture. Aromas of cassis and caramel rise and give way to earthy notes of black olive, black pepper, and truffles. Classic flavors of cassis and black cherry fill the mouth as notes of violets and vanilla linger on the finish. Enjoy this wine with braised short ribs on a cold winter's night or with a porcini and gorgonzola burger for you gourmet grillers.
"Starts out with an earthy, mulchy, loamy character before revealing its core currant, sage, herb and bay leaf flavors, along with hints of espresso. It also shows considerable tannic strength, finishing with a dry, minerally quality. Best from 2006 through 2012. 2,183 cases made. 88 points" Wine Spectator

"Smooth and refined, with supple currant, dried berry, sage and spice notes that pick up a cedary oak flavor on the finish. Drink now through 2012. 117,000 cases made. 86 points" Wine Spectator
"Bordeaux-like in its structure and austerity, with a band of cedar, dried currant, anise, sage and herb. On the finish, the tannins are dry, with hints of tobacco and earth, but the flavors keep unfolding. Decant. Drink now through 2010. 7,620 cases made. 87 points" Wine Spectator
"Drinks a bit weedy and thin, with herbal flavors occasionally enriched by blackberry. Bone-dry, with pronounced tannins and acids, it’s a hard, lean wine, although clean and well made....clean...lean...hardberry, currant, grapey, herb, vanilla, blackberry, herbal flavors" Wine Enthusiast
The medium plus body combined with juicy ripe fruit and flavor-enhancing acidity make this versatile wine an excellent complement to grilled steaks, salmon or even a meaty pizza.
This wine exhibits delicious aromas of black cherry and currant with notes of green olive, cedar, dried herbs, and vanilla. Rich and medium in body, with smooth, supple tannins, the flavors suggest cherry, cassis, and nutmeg spice. Expressing true Cabernet Sauvignon varietal character, the wine will pair well with braised and roasted meat dishes such as pot roast, prime rib, crown roast of pork or short ribs and the most hearty pasta and poultry recipes.
